Truesoups was founded in 1991 in Seattle and, in addition to its premium frozen soup varieties, produces a limited line of frozen sauces, stews, pot pies and gravies -- all available in Cryovac(R) plastic bag packaging. Its products are marketed as the highest quality available, based on the company's original recipes and the use of only fresh vege... tables, with no preservatives, and low sodium levels -- relying on the natural sodium found in vegetables, beans and stock. Branded products make up a quarter of the business; proprietary and national accounts business comprises the remainder. The company operates in a two-year-old, 60,000-square-foot processing facility. The products are hot-filled and chilled on-site and then transported to a separate facility close by for freezing and distribution. Responsiveness to customers and producing small "made-to-order" batches are hallmarks of the business. Truesoups originally sold branded soups in the Pacific Northwest. After meeting with regional success, the company focuses on select national accounts with menus featuring premium quality soups and sauces.
