About Troop 228
Troop 228 has roughly 60-70 registered scouts. This boy-led troop empowers boys to be leaders by allowing them to develop a troop program and then take responsibility for figuring out how to achieve their goals. The troop schedules one or two events each month consisting of campouts, community service projects, merit badge workshops, and activities such as cycling, skiing, bowling, golfing, plus much more. The Troop meets at Christ United Methodist Church, Bethel Park, PA. every Tuesday night from 7:30 - 9:00 p.m. Scouts who arrive early at 7:00 p.m. will find leaders and older Scouts available to help them with advancement. Our Troop plans a camp out each month. These have included cycling trips along The Great Allegheny Passage and C&O Canal Towpath, Ski Trips to Timberline Resort in West Virginia, Backpacking in the Laurel Highlands, Canoeing and Kayaking the Youghiogheny and Allegheny Rivers.
