Originally founded in 1885, Trinity Episcopal Day School has a long tradition of providing quality education for the children of Adams County. Along with the many other fine Episcopal schools in the United States, Trini... ty maintains a commitment to ensuring that students learn and grow in an inclusive, faith based setting. Like our sister schools, we are well-known for our commitment to an academically challenging, college-preparatory curriculum. Trinity is a place where we prepare children to succeed in college and in life. I am proud of several things we have accomplished this year to help our children succeed. For one thing our Board has made a firm commitment to small class sizes in the preschool and lower elementary grades. According to Secretary of Education Richard Riley, "Research has shown that class size reduction in the early grades with a qualified teacher leads to higher student achievement in reading and math . . . The payback that comes from participating in small classes increases from year to year." Our student to teacher ratio in preschool through third grade is fourteen to one. These fine teachers have an average of sixteen years of experience each in the classroom! No other school in our area can compare to this, and I am confident that the benefit to our students makes this costly investment in personnel well worthwhile. Believing that 6th, 7th, and 8th graders have unique social and academic needs, we have instituted a separate Middle School that is geared directly towards meeting the needs of this special population of students. A separate faculty is working towards preparing these students for the rigors of a high school college-preparatory curriculum by gradually introducing them to rotating class schedules, higher-level learning skills, and semester exams.
