TRIGEN, also known as Trigenerational Homecare, is a nonprofit organization founded in 2014 and formally incorporated in 2019 in Singapore, dedicated to serving vulnerable older adults through innovative intergenerational programs. The organization was started by medical students who observed that elderly patients with tightly knitted families tend... ed to do better in hospitals, inspiring them to recreate the Kampung spirit where communities would chip in to care for the vulnerable. TRIGEN strives to bridge generational gaps through relationship building and meaningful interactions, bringing together the elderly, young adults, and youth as a family where every generation in Singapore can experience the protection, care, and love of a family. The organization is made up of healthcare professionals who are passionate about serving the elderly and nurturing the next generation to do the same, with volunteers who are health and social care professionals leading and mentoring youth teams. TRIGEN's HomeCare Programme is a volunteer-led home care service where healthcare professionals lead youth teams to address the medical and social needs of seniors through fortnightly to monthly check-ins via home visits and tele-consults. The organization also operates the HealthStart Programme, which brings together medically trained volunteers and youths to educate and motivate residents to take charge of their health by adopting technology. Through a service-learning approach, TRIGEN aims to inculcate important values, educate, and empower youths to be champions of their communities while providing holistic care to address the medical and social needs of Singapore's elderly population.
