Tri-State Delta Chi

Delta Chi () is an international Greek letter college social fraternity formed on October 13, 1890, at Cornell University, initially as a professional fraternity for law students. On April 29, 1922, Delta Chi became a general membership social fraternity, eliminating the requirement for men to be studying law, and opening membership to all areas of... study. On April 22, 1929 Delta Chi became the first international fraternity to abolish "hell week". Delta Chi is a charter member of the North-American Interfraternity Conference (NIC).As a chapter, Tri-State Delta Chi dates back to Fall of 1922 when a group of men formed the "Four-Eleven Gang" named for the address of the house: 411 W Park Street. In 1925, they opened the first fraternity house at Tri-State College, later changing their name to the Greek lettered fraternity Lambda Phi Epsilon. As the chapter grew, the members of Lambda Phi Epsilon joined a regional fraternity in 1929, becoming the Delta Chapter of the Beta Phi Theta Fraternity. Being a regional fraternity, the Beta Phi Theta Fraternity had few chapters, and by 1954 the Delta Chapter was the only chapter remaining. In the late 1960s, Tri-State College ruled that all Fraternities must be a member of a national fraternity. This led to the members of Beta Phi Theta becoming a provisional chapter of Delta Chi on March 21st, 1967.
