The Upton Town Crier was started in 1993 as a monthly publication. The Mendon Town Crier was founded as a monthly publication in 1995. The two papers were combined in 1998 into The Upton & Mendon Town Crier and have been distributed biweekly to all 5,700 addresses in Mendon and Upton ever since. The Milford Town Crier was established in August of 2... 007 and is direct mailed free to all addresses in Milford, Ma; 12,800 homes and businesses. With out-of-town subscriptions and out-of-town advertisers, that is a total distribution of over 20,000. "Mendon, Milford and Upton residents have a strong desire to know what's happening in their communities," said Al. "Our papers serve the needs of friends and neighbors in all three towns to know more about what is going on in our hometowns." "We like to call ourselves 'the good news newspaper,'" explained Marilyn. "We focus on the people and businesses in Mendon, Milford and Upton and publish the things that are important to them." The papers cover town government news like Selectmen and Town Meetings; Advertiser's Club Introduces articles about businesses that contract to advertise at least 12 times a year in each publication; School Committee meetings and school events; local clubs and organizations; library and churches; editorial and opinion columns; and a community calendar. Each issue also has a Dining Guide and a Business and Real Estate sections. The Town Criers are direct mailed free to every address. They are totally paid for by advertising dollars. Advertisers have the opportunity to reach every business and home in the three towns, with reasonable rates, well designed ads and frequency discounts.
