Tolerance Foundation is a Southern California non-profit 501(c)(3) educational, charitable, social, and cultural organization founded by Turkish-Americans in 1999. The vision of Tolerance Foundation is a society where individuals from different backgrounds, cultures, religions and ethnicities come and live together in peace, cooperate, learn and sh... are each other's values and serve their communities. The mission of Tolerance Foundation is to introduce Turkish culture to American society, cultivate friendship, teach universal values such as; friendship, love, truth, faith, brotherhood, solidarity, promote understanding of diverse cultures through dialog and form a culture of "Art of living together". To accomplish its mission, Tolerance Foundation puts together a series of religious, social and cultural programs for the Turkish-Americans community. Tolerance Foundation contributes to the society by organizing and hosting cultural and social events such as; Turkish cuisine cooking classes, cultural nights, picnics, dinners, International Women's day, soccer games, Noah's pudding days, Whirling Dervishes' performances, and intercultural dialog dinners. These events strengthen friendship ties with the neighbors and local communities. Tolerance Foundation organizes and hosts Turkish language and cultural programs on the weekends to the children of the Turkish community. Volunteers teach Turkish history, social sciences, literature in a fun and educational way to the interested community members. Due to the demand, participants to these programs increase each year. Tolerance Foundation observes certain religious days. And with the help of its staff and volunteers Tolerance Foundation organizes and hosts programs and activities such as; seminars, prayers, iftar dinners and celebrations.
