About T'it'q'et
The Pegpglha Council (PC) was formed based on the community desire (see History /Background) to create a system of government that was more reflective of our traditional way of life and decision making processes. The PC was created based on family representation. There are 10 main family lines in the community and each of those families appoints a family head to represent their family interests in the PC. The PC meets monthly to discuss issues and provide direction to the Tribal Chief. On September 29 2002, the Ttqet community passed the following mandate for the PC: The Pegpglha Council, comprised of family representatives, is hereby mandated to carry out the following governing responsibilities: Conduct Government to Government and Nation to Nation responsibilities related to Sttimc Title and Rights.
