Beatriz was raised in Pella, Iowa where she remains headquartered. She has commuted from small town Iowa to the big city since law school to keep her daughter close to family and friends. Beatriz is passionate about counseling clients through the trauma of discrimination, harassment, and sexual assault. She believes in compassionate advocacy and he... lping clients share their testimony and speaking truth to power. Before joining Timmer & Judkins, Beatriz was a shareholder at a civil rights firm in Des Moines, Iowa. She spent six years litigating employment and education discrimination claims across the country. She endeavored to represent as many college students harmed by sexual harassment or assault at school as she could. She also represented female college student athletes and coaches seeking equity in athletic opportunities and within athletic departments. Much of her time and energy was focused on improving the way implicit race and gender bias cases are explained and ultimately proved through litigation. In her free time, Beatriz takes care of stray cats and reads personal finance articles. She enjoys gaming with her daughter, Aurelia. While the two generally get along, Beatriz mercilessly dominates at Catan and Halo I. Aurelia is an adept gamer herself and consistently beats mom at Super Smash Bros. In order to combat gender stereotyped roles on the micro-level, Beatriz avoids cooking at all costsmuch to Aurelias chagrin. Beatriz and Aurelia love traveling together to Universal Studios, Disney World Parks, Madrid, Accra, and New York City.
