Tim Stockdale

International show jumper Tim Stockdale, born 1964. Tim first represented Great Britain in 1988. He represented his country on over 50 occasions in Nations Cup teams including, the 2002 World Equestrian Games, the 2008 Olympic Games in China and the 2009 European Championships. In early 2010, he served as Chef dEquipe for the victorious Great Brita... in team in Nations Cup contest in Abu Dhabi. Tim is probably one of the best known faces in British Show Jumping. In recognition of his outstanding services to equestrian sport, Tim was presented with the British Equestrian Federations Medal of Honour at the British Open Show Jumping Championships in April, 2010. In 2006, he was awarded an Honorary Degree by Nottingham Trent University for services to equestrianism. Tims yard is located in Roade, Northamptonshire. With the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit and Towcester Racecourse near by, this is an area renowned for its sporting connections. Tim embarked on the journey to international show jumping stardom at the age of just seven when his riding talents were first recognised at Nottinghamshires Grove Pony Club. On leaving school, he went immediately to work with horses at Mike Saywells yard in Retford. Soon after, he seized the opportunity to work as second jockey to acclaimed show jumper, Graham Fletcher. Tim gained further valuable experience by working with and training under John Taylor before setting out on his own in 1990 with six horses. His major competitive breakthrough had come two years previously when he won a major class at the Royal Windsor Horse Show riding, Supermarket. Show jumpers trained and ridden by Tim soon became world-class performers horses like The Frog, Mighty McGuigan, Santas Echo, Interview, Parcival, Glenwood Springs, Wiston Bridget, Cloudy Night, Corlato, Samoens, K2 and The Toymaker, Fleur de LAube.
