This Expansive Adventure

Backtrack a few years, whilst we were both in creative roles working in photography and advertising, we spent most of our time inside the confines of 4 walls. Our weeks were spent longing for the weekend and our minds were anywhere but where we were. Even though we lived in London and had the 'world' at our fingertips, it didn't feel fulfilling to... us and we felt a deep longing for something more. We decided to start hiking and went on our first adventure holiday. Wildly underprepared, we headed off to the Alpi Apuane in Italy. As we drove through the mountains for the first time on the way to a hike, a feeling of absolute awe and wonder overcame us, and we were hooked. We didn't get to the top of the mountain we had in our sights that day, but it didn't matter. Even though we were hundreds of miles away, we felt like we were home. When we returned to London, our eyes were open and couldn't go back. Being in nature filled a deep need that we didn't really even know we had. Whilst travelling we felt alive, confident, happy and inspired in a way we'd never experienced before. We were soon booking our next trip, and then our next one, and the one after. Our adventures became more elaborate and that deep connection to the outdoors and the wilderness it entailed grew more and harder to ignore. Coming back every time and feeling like we had to forget our passions became harder and harder. It was then that we formed a photographic partnership (you can view our portfolio here) which sees us work on conscious advertising projects with brands we really believe in to create incredible, story led, inspiring work. Our work always has photography and storytelling at its heart. It was through our huge passion for the outdoors, and the changes that we'd seen to our lives as a result of our adventures that we began our blog.
