Thespionage is committed to originality and accessibility. From the moment you enter our doors, we strive to provide you with a unique and welcoming experience. With this in mind, Thespionage intends to operate as Philadelphia's first entirely Pay-What-You-Can theatre company. The success of this experiment depends upon the generosity of our cheris... hed guests and the quality of our productions. It is our hope that this symbiotic relationship promotes the growth of Thespionage and broadens our ability to support local artists. At Thespionage we only produce unpublished works by local writers, highlighting local performers. Writers from Philadelphia and the surrounding area are encouraged to send us their work for consideration for future productions. All writing submissions are read and considered. Thespionage is Philly's first (entirely) Pay-What-You-Can theatre company. That means our audience names the price for every single show they see. Whatever the first production brings in goes right into the next, so the amount our audience decides to bestow on us determines the caliber of our next production. Generosity is the difference between a bench or a box, lights or no lights, theater or warehouse. We choose our shows based on their overall quality/nature of their financial flexibility. Basically, you won't see us putting on a full-scale Elizabethan drama with accurate costume detail starring Jennifer Anniston as the diamond drenched queen of songs owned by Disney. . . Or will you? It all depends on generosity.
