The Voices Project

The original vision for The Voices Project in 2012 was grounded in a new mothers ambition to provide a venue where women and girls all ages and backgrounds express themselves and build a portfolio of original poetry and short prose. We believe that through reading and internalizing the creative works of others, there is an opportunity for empathy o... f the human condition to spread. We never really know what is going on for someone unless we become curious. We may be more apt to see ourselves in others when we observe, inquire, look people in the eye, or read their stories. Despite the publications initial focus on womens writing, we received many meaningful submissions from menand they kept coming. Thus, The Voices Project evolved, striving for more inclusivity and showcasing the work of women, men and non-binary writers. Our content is varied, inspiring, daring, and sometimes provocative. We accept work encourages less rigid thinking. While we dont accept all the work we receive, we often offer workshopping/editing for submissions we see potential in. We consider biographies an important part of the submission, as it provides additional opportunity for the author to express who they are and may help contextualize their work.
