The Toy Store

The company began in Topeka, KS - we opened our first store downtown in 1976! As we continued to grow, we moved down the street to a larger location on Kansas Avenue, and even opened a second Topeka location in Fairlawn Plaza. We eventually relocated both Topeka stores to our current location, at 5300 SW 21st Street. In 1998 we opened a store on hi... storic Massachusetts street in downtown Lawrence, KS. The Toy Store is currently located in the historic C.J. Eriksen Building. Constructed in 1899, this building was the location of a successful furniture building near the turn of the 20th century. Since then, the building has gone through many hands, serving as a bicycle boutique, paint emporium and general store. The C.J. Eriksen Building is part of the National Register of Historic Places, along with many of the other structures in and around Massachusetts Street. As our Flagship location, Lawrence offers a unique and special shopping experience. Our expert staff takes pride in being THE most knowledgeable source on children's playthings in the area. Our weekly activities bring in children and families, and provide a fun and educational gathering place for the community! Children are encouraged to take time to play - we offer over 20 in-store play areas, where kids (and their families) can test out toys before making a purchase, or just enjoy what the store has to offer!
