We foster philanthropy by identifying local needs and offering donors flexible ways to make a difference in the lives of their neighbors. In 1972, a group of committed local residents came together with a unified mission to found an organization, supported by local givers, that would comprehensively address the future needs of Summit area residents... . Those dedicated citizens laid the groundwork for a community foundation connecting donors to nonprofit organizations that form the backbone of the community. Originally named Summit Area Public Foundation, The Summit Foundations stated purpose is to assist, encourage and promote the well-being of humankind and primarily the inhabitants of the area comprising the City of Summit and its vicinity, regardless of race, color or creed.
