About The SHARE Foundation
In 1981, a project was begun to help a woman with cerebral palsy (Linda Texceira) communicate independently. Two computer engineers, Les Cory and Phil Viall spent a summer designing a computer system that enabled Linda to "speak" via a voice synthesizer, print letters, and use a telephone all by operating a single switch. Soon the pair received other requests for people whose situation was similar to Linda. Eventually they were joined by Ric Walder, and the trio formed the SHARE Foundation.
