About the Red Lion
The Red Lion at Newbrough was an excellent find on the old Stanegate road, what a marvellous chef! classically trained brilliant cheese soufflés, marvelous deserts (the panacotta was first class) and the Sunday lunch was among the best I have had, beef cooked to perfection! terrific yorkshire puddings and beautifully seasoned gravy. I thoroughly recommend the Red Lion and look forward to returning. Spent two nights here whilst visiting Hadrians Wall. Wonderful old pub in a tranquil village two miles from the Wall. Lovely breakfasts and evening meals and great local ales in the bar in the evening. No need to go looking elsewhere. A perfect place to stay. Very glad I chose it and will definitely stay there again..Explore more
