The Prelude

Established in 2014. The Prelude Songwriters Club is a business created by songwriters, for songwriters. We provide education and resources for songwriters in the Rio Grande Valley, including guitar lessons, songwriting classes, and other workshops. Additional services for musicians include a guitar and electronics repair shop and a buy- sell-trade... music shop. For the general public, The Prelude is also a "listening room" style music venue showcasing original music by local and touring performers. Our venue has a comfortable, inclusive atmosphere in which community members of all ages can appreciate live acoustic music while enjoying our coffee, tea, and made-from-scratch sandwiches and baked goods. Finally, for municipalities, chambers of commerce, and other entities that host events involving live music, The Prelude offers convenient, affordable, and reliable sound reinforcement and talent buying services. The Prelude was founded in 2014 by co-owners Angel Rodriguez and Rachel Udow. The initial vision for The Prelude was a "musicians' incubator" - a place where musicians of all skill and experience levels could come to assess where they currently were musically, envision where they wanted to go, and gain information and resources to get there.
