The Ownership Project

ABOUT THE OWNERSHIP PROJECT Founded in 2011, The Ownership Project is a not-for-profit printmaking studio and gallery space in Fitzroy, Melbourne. Conceived as a space to engage with members from culturally diverse communities through art making, The Ownership Project works with newly arrived migrant, refugee and Indigenous Australian communities,... providing specialist tutors, high quality materials and exhibition space to encourage exploration of diverse contemporary dialogues through printmaking practice. The Ownership Project runs two main program streams. Our Creative Capacity programs offer workshops for community groups, providing an introduction to printmaking and social engagement opportunities. The Artist in Residence program is an opportunity for artists to further their practical knowledge of varied printmaking techniques and develop a conceptual body of work for exhibition. We are committed to seeking further exhibition and professional development opportunities for our artists, and to engaging the wider community with a diverse public program of exhibitions and events at our on site gallery space. The Ownership Project is supported by Arts Victoria, City of Yarra and RE Ross Trust and works with referral organisations such as Multicultural Arts Victoria, The Torch, The Social Studio, Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (VACCHO), Rize of the Morning Star (RIZE) and The Church of All Nations.
