We serve children 6 weeks through pre-kindergarten at The Orchard School. Our school is passionate about cultivating fun and inviting learning experiences. The Orchard School is unique in that we are a Certified Green Business with several LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certifications. This means that our school was built using strategies aimed at using locally sourced/sustainable products, reducing energy & water usage, promoting better indoor air quality, minimizing environmental pollution & waste, and improving quality of life. Our philosophy at The Orchard is growing children with a healthy mind-body-spirit, as well as an appreciation of the Earth and ways to sustain it. We teach environmental responsibility with our gardening, composting, and recycling programs. From planting, nurturing and harvesting vegetables and herbs from our very own garden, students learn ways to use what we have to get what we need. All organic food waste is collected and composted. Rain water is harvested from the rain barrel, and the soil made is used to feed our garden. Students create sustainable habits that carry on into adulthood by separating trash from recycling, reducing waste, and creatively reusing classroom materials.
