The Olnick Spanu Foundation

Olnick Spanu is a private art initiative established by art advocates Nancy Olnick and Giorgio Spanu. With a focus on Italian art and design, it is comprised of the Olnick Spanu Collection, Olnick Spanu Art Program, Murano Glass Collection, publications and commissioned architectural projects. The Olnick Spanu Collection is one of the most expansiv... e collections of Post-war Italian art and design in the U.S. In development since the 1990s, the collection is centered around works by conceptual and contemporary Italian artists, with a strong focus on artists associated with the Arte Povera movement. In addition, the Olnick Spanu Collection also includes a thoughtfully curated collection of Murano glass, featuring over 500 hand-blown works from the 20th and 21st century including artists such as Carlo Scarpa, Fulvio Bianconi, Artisiti Barovier, Paolo Venini and Massimo Vignelli. Always fascinated with architecture, Nancy Olnick and Giorgio Spanu commissioned Spanish architect Alberto Campo Baeza in 2003 to create The Olnick Spanu House in Garrison, New York. The Olnick Spanu House was Baezas first project in the U.S. In 2003, Olnick Spanu also established an art residency program on the property in Garrison, the Olnick Spanu Art Program.
