The NCCS

The National Childrens Cancer Society (NCCS) provides emotional, financial and educational support to children with cancer, their families and survivors. The NCCS is a 501C(3) non-profit organization that is proud to meet all of the Better Business Bureaus Standards of Charity Accountability, which includes a comprehensive, in-depth evaluation of c... harity governance, fundraising practices, solicitations and informational materials. The organization also earned the Platinum GuideStar Nonprofit Profile Seal of Transparency, the highest level of recognition offered by GuideStar, the worlds largest source of nonprofit information. Since its inception, the NCCS has provided more than $68 million in direct financial assistance to over 45,000 children with cancer. The organization works closely with pediatric oncology treatment centers throughout U.S. and reaches thousands more families and survivors through our free conferences and publications. In 1987, a relatively new and expensive procedure known as bone marrow transplantation (BMT) was becoming recognized as a viable treatment for certain cancers. Despite this recognition, most insurance companies considered BMTs experimental and would not fund them.
