The Mclean Group

At the outset the firm was very small working mainly for several P&I Clubs, in particular for the United Kingdom P&I Club. The firm began to grow and became well known in the maritime world in the 1980s. Its clientele included most of the shipowners' P&I Clubs, foreign marine insurers and French Shipowners. In the years to follow, McLEANS opened of... fices or subsidiaries in most of the major ports of metropolitan France, Paris, the Maghreb and Spain. The Group's activities were extended to surveying, insurance and TMT Route Rail for GIT claims management. Today the Group employs some 45 people. The Group's turnover is in excess of ten million euros (2007) and the main company of McLEANS S.A. is credited by the Bank of France with the rating 3+, which corresponds to "Very strong". In addition to presiding over the Group, Alan McLean was at one time registered as a "Conseil Juridique" then Advocate; his daughter Maître Helen McLean later succeeded him in the law firm H. McLean & Associés. Alan McLean is also a maritime Arbitrator and was created a Knight in the Order of Maritime Merit. He was the founder of the EPIC association (European P&I Correspondents). He is father to three children, all of whom occupy various positions within the Group. He is married to Dr. Elizabeth Jenner PhD, MEd, BSc (Hons), RGN, Hon Dip HIC, FRCN, JP.
