The Lone Oak Press

The Lone Oak Press, a private press, was established in 1989 in Petersham, Massachusetts, to publish letterpress-printed fine press books, broadsides and ephemera with wood engravings and etchings by Abigail Rorer. The mission of The Lone Oak Press is to choose text that is engrossing and visually inspiring and to strive to publish it in a visually... beautiful manner. The press was named in honor of a huge 200+ year old oak tree which stood majestically alone in the middle of the field behind the artist's home and because the press was going to be a solo venture. The tree has since fallen but the press carries on- a tribute to the oak tree, its many fruitful years, and its progeny. The engravings and the letterpress type are printed on a Vandercook #4 proof press. The etchings are printed on a small modified M. M. Kelton & Son iron press. All the editions of the prints and the type for the broadsides and ephemera are printed by Abigail Rorer at the Press while for the books she collaborates with other printers and binders.Read More
