The Lokal

Located just on the edge of Chinatown, The LoKal is a casual eatery that uses homemade ingredients and attracts locals from in and around Singapore. A twist on the classic Aussie café, we provide all our customers with great homemade food - including butter, yogurt, sauces and pickles all made on site. Our name, influenced by the German word for 'l... ocal', represents the way in which we aim to be more than just a local cafe. Not only are we a place that people come back to, but we're always looking for new customers to pop in and say hi. Started in 2014 by local Aussie chef Darren Farr, The LoKal is located right beside the Goethe-Institut Singapore, giving Darren the idea to give the café a little German influence. In the day, The Lokal serves up healthy and hearty brunch like Smashed Avocado with Ricotta, Granola with fruit salad, and Lobster Rolls, but slowly transits into a cozy and versatile space for intimate dinners and casual cocktails sessions with comfort food such as Steak Frites, Catch of the Day and Grilled Pork Chops. The Lokal takes pride in curating a stellar collection of Australian wines, Hong Kong beers and concocting cocktails with a Lokal touch, all of which pair perfectly with our food. Darren Farr, or more prominently known by his Instagram followers as 'fuzzychef', used to work at Tetsuya's in Sydney, before working at various restaurants across London and Hong Kong.
