The Kunkel Group's ownership endeavors reach beyond downtown as well. Most notably, the Air Commerce Park located on the grounds of the Evansville Regional Airport. In 2007, The Kunkel Group constructed a 600,000 sq. ft. distribution center for Berry Plastics. Even with a tight timeframe, this $20 million project was successfully completed in only nine months. The Kunkel Group continues to maintain ownership in the distribution center. The Kunkel Group recently purchased the former Whirlpool facility for $2.9 million and is moving forward with plans to convert the building into a multi-tenant facility. As part of the agreement, Whirlpool agreed to keep their Product Development Center in place and thus maintain 300+ professional jobs in the area.
