The Hunter School

The Hunter School is a non-profit private therapeutic day and residential school offering a unique approach to educating young boys and girls with ADHD, Anxiety, Autism, Mood Disorders and related conditions who have not found success in more traditional educational settings. We consider these children to be highly sensitive and to possess many pos... itive attributes, creative abilities and skills which are celebrated on our campus. The Hunter School is also the home of Energetic Mindfulness. The distinctive methodology of Energetic Mindfulness showcases and models the tremendous benefits of paying attention in the present moment, being mindful of and self-regulating the impact that our thoughts, behaviors and attitudes have on us, others and the world around us. Energetic Mindfulness utilizes a combination of cognitive behavioral therapy with a twist of mindfulness and an understanding of thoughts, energies, behaviors and actions. It is an educational movement that models positive character development and a way of being in the world where the end product is living a more loving and peaceful life. Our classrooms and living quarters are safe and relaxed, creating a welcoming place for your child to thrive while he or she attends school at Hunter. New this year in 2013, is a Permaculture Program allowing the children an opportunity to learn about organic farming, sustainability and an understanding of the relationship we all have with the Earth.
