The purpose and vision of The Helping Hands Philippines is to improve the health of all typhoon survivors in Tacloban City, and help promote resilience to any future disasters that may affect this region of the world. We believe in strengthening already-existing health care systems, and working with local communities and institutions to find long-t... erm solutions to the health care dilemmas highlighted by super typhoon Haiyan. In order to achieve our vision, the Helping Hands Philippines is involved in three main activities: Eventually, we want to have our trained community health workers in every typhoon survivor community in Tacloban City, and possibly throughout the Philippines. Our official charitable purposes are: 1. To promote health among impoverished and displaced survivors of typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda living in Tacloban City, Leyte, Philippines through: a. the provision of free annual general medical clinics, and b. the training of local community health workers who will provide ongoing, sustainable basic medical advice/care in between annual clinics. 2.
