After completing his flooring apprenticeship in New Zealand at age 20, Dave Cooper went on to install floor coverings in America, England and Australia. Returning to New Zealand in 1994, Dave and Karina started Daves Flooring Limited. After a couple of years the demand to install and also supply carpets and vinyl was so strong Dave and Karina opene... d a tiny store on Te Rapa Straight. Daves Flooring quickly gained a reputation for quality workmanship and customer service. The premises became too small and the opportunity arose to purchase The Hamilton Rug Company and move into bigger premises. So on August 26th 2005 Daves Flooring and the Hamilton Rug Company merged to become Floorstyle Limited. With new premises and a great team and now a bigger range of products and services to offer their customers the business became well known in the Waikato region. So much so that in 2009 Dave and Karina were approached to join The Floor Store, a large chain of New Zealand carpet retailers. Always looking to expand and make their store a better place for their customers, Dave and Karina took up the franchise and in October 2009 officially became The Floor Store in Hamilton. With a change of name came a change of identity. Gone was the big black building with the big circles and in came a smart and clean looking store.
