The DC Eagle

Established in 1971. We are Temporarily closed Due to the Coronavirus pandemic. The DC Eagle is DCs largest and oldest gay bar, welcoming everyone. On Fridays only, we are 18+, welcoming our local college crowd and other youth for our weekly drag shows and dance party until 3am. Saturdays we rotate late-night dance events, whether its hip-hop & R&B... music or circuit dance music every 2nd Saturday. Our main bar features events like Daddy and Shelter. The two outdoor decks are a great place to enjoy a beer, cocktail or whiskey with your cigar or cigarette. Amazing happy hour specials throughout the week, like 2-4-1 drinks on Tuesday or $3 off all whiskeys and bourbons on Sundays. We host special events like internationally renowned DJs and recording artists, sexy porn stars and gogo dancers and drag queens from RuPauls Drag Race and Dragula. In the late 1960's, a group of guys put together dinners for local motorcyclists and leathermen at a bar on 9th Street in NW called Louis'. The bar was renamed Louis' Spartan Lounge, after the Spartans MC was formed on April 3, 1968. On September 4, 1968, Don Bruce became, what we now refer to as, our first "Baby Spartan." Needing a space of their own, Don and his brother Eddie pooled their money give birth to the legendary DC Eagle. They borrowed the Eagle name their friends in New York City had given to the first leather bar there, making the DC Eagle the 2nd in the world.Read More
