About The Collegiate

The Collegiate Blog strives to serve as an easily accessible resource for students seeking to gain admissions to US colleges and universities, particularly liberal arts schools. We seek to simplify the college admissions process by providing clear, concise, up-to-date information regarding test preparation, selection of extracurricular activities, college selection based on "fit," financial aid, majors and minors, essays, recommendations, and interviews. The Collegiate has been featured on the Huffington Post, the largest online news website in the world. The blog differentiates itself from other college admissions resources by its contributors - all writers are experts, individuals who have been through the college process within the last four years. In 2012, Hope Brinn received the Eugene M. Lang Opportunity Scholarship, a Swarthmore College fellowship aimed at bringing in-need social resources to undeserved communities, to develop the Collegiate Blog virtual mentoring program. The objective of the virtual mentoring program is to match high achieving, experienced undergraduate volunteer mentors with low-income and underprivileged rising high school seniors. The mentoring team's goals are to build strong personal relationships and provide critical advice and information throughout the academic year to students who otherwise would not have access to higher education. Our mission is to encourage and provide high-achieving underprivileged students with the knowledge to successfully apply for admission to the top U.S. colleges and universities.
