About The Barracks
The Barracks is an "A" horse show farm located in Charlottesville, Virginia. Owned and operated by the Bishop family since 1973, The Barracks specializes in boarding, training, selling, and showing hunters, jumpers, and equitation horses. We welcome new clients of all levels - from beginners to serious show competitors. Riders at the Barracks also enjoy hunting with the Farmington Hunt Club during hunt season. Mr. Thomas Bishop, xMFH and previously fieldmaster, is currently a whipper-in with the hunt. The Barracks is home to Virginia Riding, UVA's equestrian team, founded in 1976. As a club sport, the riding team competes in affiliation with the Club Sports association in Zone 4 Region 2 of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA).
