Founded in 2005 by Heather MacLeod, the store is located in Fredericton, New Brunswick. We are pet lovers who are committed to providing safe, healthy pet food, treats and top quality accessories for cats & dogs, all at fair pricing, along with friendly, knowledgeable service. Born and raised in Fredericton, Heather earned a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of New Brunswick and gained much of her retail, management and marketing experience before following her heart and opening The Barking Lot in 2005. Since acquiring her first German Shepherd dog in 1987, Heather has been a member of the CKC and an active member of River Valley Obedience Club since 1989. She has gained first-hand experience in obedience training, tracking, scent detection, agility, flyball, conformation shows and dog breeding. Heather is also a Canadian Kennel Club tracking judge. Heathers household includes one German Shepherd, Rosie and a very tolerant cat, Hope. Rosie is one of the few dogs in Canada that has earned a Tracking Champion title; she has also earned titles in rally obedience and scent detection, all trained using force-free methods.
