The ASM Consortium

The ASM Consortium is pleased to announce the publication of its fourth Guideline book: Effective Operations Practices. Effective Operations Practices describes a complete framework to improve a companys preparedness for abnormal situations. Each of the seven practice categories is represented by between 5-11 best practices or guidelines which are... prioritized to assist companies as they move from basic to more advanced practices. This Guideline book is based on the Consortiums review of 42 published and private Incident Investigations and 25 years of Consortium research. The detailed guidelines have been used successfully in member company site audits, and represent a comprehensive method to reduce the impact of abnormal situations on plant operations. Whereas the prior guidelines concentrate on the Process Control System, this Guideline book provides the broad overview of all seven practice categories. The ASM Consortium plans to conduct a live Webinar on Managing Human Reliability on Aug 14, 2019 The ASM Consortiym will conduct a 60-minute webinar on Aug 14, 2PM eastern time, hosted by AIChE. The program will give an overview of the impact of human factors on operator performance and systematic safety based on the Abnormal Situation Management Consortium research. Join the live discussion on how to avoid the escalation of minor problems that could lead to larger incidents or production losses. The first QRM of 2016 was successfully concluded at Honeywells Houston office. The QRM attendees, who are the operating company members and Honeywell customers, discussed the years new research proposals and reviewed the progress of the ongoing research. The Quarterly Review Meetings are a platform for the ASM Consortium members to share the benefits gained from the ASM practices and products, and to discuss new challenges faced in plant operations.
