The Arts Connection

We are committed in the arts and education. We recognize that some students are seeking a competitive approach to their learning, others are studying for purely recreational purposes. Yet regardless, our teachers expect that their students will practise in order to maximize the benefits of their weekly lesson. Goal setting is used even with the you... ngest of our students in both the music and dance divisions. Our students participate in examination programs, festivals, recitals and workshops and have excelled in their areas of study. They have also performed in outstanding productions in professional theatre venues. These productions would include Cinderella, The Wizard of Oz, Alice in Wonderland, Willy Wonka, Vivaldi's Four Seasons and a variety of theme based productions. We do presentations at the end of the season in all of the disciplines. These allow students to share what they have learned with their parents, family and friends and encourage self-discipline, commitment and cooperation. As a parent your input is welcomed and valued. Arrangements can always be made for you to discuss your child's participation and progress at any time. We have many opportunities for you to view classes or sit in on lessons during the year. Our Director, Linda Shirley, has an open door policy and will also act as a liaison should the need arise. Through the professional associations of our faculty and the cooperation of our administration with the Vancouver Symphony and Ballet BC, our students are offered many opportunities to attend wonderful performances and concerts at discounted rates.
