Texas MSA

Established in 1967, the Muslim Students Association at UT strives to serve Allah (God) in the best way possible through the principles laid out in the Honorable Quran and Sunnah. We seek to achieve this goal by promoting unity, providing education, and giving back to the local community through a wide array of activities held each year. MSA also s... eeks to uphold the values of tolerance, compassion, and sincerity in hopes of raising awareness and building understanding among different campus communities. Events such as Interfeast and Islam Awareness Week have formed the core of a strong tradition of outreach that we wish to build upon and continue in the years to come. Membership is open to all UT students and faculty. Welcome Dinner is a chance for returning and incoming students alike to meet new people, make new friends, and get a preview of what MSA has planned for the year! Farewell Dinner is a chance to commemorate the graduating seniors. There are two farewell dinners a year; one at the closing of each semester. Showdown is a competition organized by the Lone Star Council that brings MSAs all over Texas together for one weekend. Students can compete in an array of activities. Deen Intensive is a weekend-long, intimate Islamic conference for students and families from in and out of Austin alike. Deen Intensive brings in renowned speakers from around the nation while bringing the Ummahs of different MSAs together to grow in their deen! Every week, students and adults get together on Friday nights to listen to speakers discuss and present a topic relating to how Islam can be implemented in a students life. These halaqas, given by distinguished speakers, are what UTs MSA is most known for! The Big-Little program pairs incoming students with upperclassmen allowing them to build personal relationships and have a mentor.
