About TECO Technology
TECO Pneumatic was founded in 1937 as Transmission Engineering Co. in San Francisco. The original company was a representative organization selling large gear reducers, clutches and brakes. In the late 1950s Transmission Engineering started to distribute pneumatic components, beginning with Humphrey Products. Distribution of pneumatic fluid power components became the company's major focus as business grew. Transmission Engineering was incorporated in 1976 and at the same time the company shortened the company's name to TECO to avoid confusion with "transmission" products. Today, TECO supplies semiconductor tool OEMs, traditional and alternative energy companies, medical device OEMs, instrumentation manufacturers, transportation OEMs, the woodworking industry, and many others. After having been in four locations in San Fransisco, Transmission Engineering moved to Redwood City in 1968 and finally TECO Pneumatic moved to the company's new home in Pleasanton in 1991.
