Technology Assisting People In Need

Technology Assisting People In Need (TAPIN) is a 501 (c) 3, non-profit charitable organization, who is a Microsoft® Authorized Refurbisher located in Cincinnati, Ohio. TAPIN makes available thoroughly tested and refurbished computers, monitors, printers and other electronic equipment available to individuals of need and the social service agencies,... non-profits, organizations and other entities that support them. TAPIN's Mission Statement says "Technology Assisting People In Need was founded to recycle computer and related technology, to assist people with special needs such as physically challenged or otherwise socially disadvantaged individuals; educational institutions; and non-profit organizations, with equipment and training". TAPIN is able to provide these services because the organization is directed and run by a group of volunteers. TAPIN has helped thousands of individuals since 1999, to "Bridge the Digital Gap". At Technology Assisting People In Need we look at TAPIN as being the bridge or the connection between the individuals or organizations who need access to computers and cannot afford them, and the people or businesses who have recently replaced equipment and need a way of disposing of this surplus equipment. This has been accomplished by: bullet Funding, monetary donations from individuals, organizations and foundations, bullet Equipment donations from the corporate sector and individuals, bullet Volunteers who dedicate some of their time to work on computers and other peripherals, bullet Office staffing, warehouse work, training room instructors, bullet Client identifiers including school counselors, social workers, agencies, doctors and individuals TAPIN is an environmentally conscious organization that prides itself on processing unused and or defective computer components and preparing them for reuse instead of the landfill.
