Who is Technical Safety Authority

The Technical Safety Authority of Saskatchewan (TSASK) was established effective July 1, 2010 by legislation to perform most functions previously d one by the Ministry of Corrections, Public Safety and Policing, Licensing and Inspections Branch. TSASK was established in response to rapid technological change, industrial and economic growth in the province and industry's need for more timely inspection services. We are a not-for-profit company that administers Saskatchewan's safety program for boilers, pressure vessels, elevating devices and amusement rides. Specifically, we administer and enforce: The Boiler and Pressure Vessel Act and Regulations The Passenger and Freight Elevator Act and Regulations The Amusement Ride Safety Act and Regulations We operate at arms length from the government and are governed by our own Board of Directors. This arrangement gives industry a larger voice in developing more effective licensing and inspection services. However, the provincial government continues to be responsible for establishing safety standards, policies, legislation and regulatory requirements related to public safety. Our registration, inspection, certification and licensing programs and services operate on a fee-for-service basis. These fees are charged to the sectors manufacturing, installing and operating potentially hazardous equipment. All revenues generated will stay within TSASK and excess revenues will be used to improve program delivery. The Ministry of Government Relations continues to be responsible for Gas and Electrical Licensing.Read more
