Who is Teach For Zimbabwe
Teach For Zimbabwe (TFZ) is a not-for-profit organization (Trust MA 1400 / 2018) registered in the Republic of Zimbabwe (ROZ) and a partner of the Teach For All (TFA) Global network, which already has over 58 partner organizations in various countries across the world.TFZs collective leadership model focuses on reshaping educational systems to be inclusive and representational of the highest-needs communities, challenging systemic and social injustices that perpetuate inequity.This collaborative and collective partnership aims to remove educational barriers especially for orphans and vulnerable children (OVC), so they are able to attain quality education for socio-economic transformation in the 21st century. Through our approach of collective stakeholder collaboration in education, we hope to accelerate our vision by empowering and equipping teachers, learners, and the community with leadership, entrepreneurial, critical skills, and decision-making competencies to enhance quality and holistic education in Zimbabwe. Dr. Miriam Farai Siwela: Trustee and Chief Executive OfficerDr. Siwela is the CEO of Teach For Zimbabwe. Dr. Miriam Farai Siwela (nee Jabangwe) was born in rural Mashonaland East in Zimbabwe. She holds a Ph.D. in Education Leadership and Management from the University of South Africa [UNISA]. She received a full scholarship from UNISA to study for her Ph.D. [2017]. She holds a masters degree in education (cum laude) [UNISA], a Post Graduate Tertiary Diploma in Education [UNISA], and a BSc in Economic honors degree [University of Zimbabwe 1986 88]. Dr. Siwela studied in Zimbabwe, the United Kingdom, and South Africa. She speaks three languages fluently: English, Shona, and Ndebele/Zulu. She has a limited understanding of French. Dr. Siwela has worked in the government and private sector since 1989 as a Teacher, Senior Economist, Market Adviser/Consultant before embarking on a new career path as a professional educator and mixed methods researcher from 2002.
