Taylor Oil

Harold Taylor started the company in 1970 when he became an agent for Amoco Oil Company in Gardner, KS. A majority of the business at that time was delivering from a bulk fuel tank wagon to farm and commercial businesses in the area. Harold quickly added additional territories surrounding Louisburg and Baldwin, Kansas. In 1975, Amoco began a proces... s of converting their agents into independent businesses called jobbers. Taylor Oil was incorporated that year. In 1977 Taylor Oil, Inc purchased a Skelly Oil distributor in Spring Hill, Kansas. The service station acquired in Spring Hill was changed to a convenience store on December 31, 1981. This event changed the primary focus of the company to convenience stores and reseller accounts. Through the 80's Taylor Oil continued to move into the retail channel, by opening their first ground up convenience store in May of 1986 in Ottawa, KS. Taylor Oil utilized partnerships and acquisitions to increase the retail presence during the 90's. In July of 1993, Taylor Oil purchased a marketership in Bonner Springs, Kansas to expand their base of operation. This purchase allowed the company to add Phillips 66 and Sinclair to it's brand offerings. In 2001 Taylor Oil added common carrier delivery service and today this service continues to be a vitally important part of the business. Taylor Oil, Inc. is constantly searching for strategies to strengthen the company. For over 45 years, the company has shown its resolve and commitment to the changing industry to ensure the company is an effective competitor in the marketplace. Harold is the founder of the company. He served many years on the Board of Directors of the Petroleum Marketers and Convenience Store Association of Kansas, PMCA of Kansas, formerly KOMA. He also served as President and was awarded the PMCA Distinguished Service Award.
