In the late 80's, Taos' founders, Ric Urrutia and Alexis Tatarsky, were working together as UNIX engineers at Apple Computer. They often found themselves providing system administration support for their team whenever a technical issue arose that prevented forward progress. Eager to find a better way to screen technical contractors to join their group, they dreamed up the idea for Taos' business model, and a new consulting model was born.
