Pemberton Legal Search was founded by Michelle Cash, a lawyer with 17 years of experience in recruiting and employment matters. Before founding Pemberton, Michelle was a Managing Director with the Houston office of Major, Lindsey & Africa. Michelle focuses her practice on the placement of lawyers with law firms and corporate legal departments. Michelle has placed partners and associates with national law firms and has placed lawyers with Fortune 100 companies across the United States. Her focus is on exemplary customer service to both the client that is hiring a lawyer as well as the possible candidates for each position. Michelle grew up in Houston, Texas and earned her undergraduate degree, cum laude, from Tulane University in December of 1985. She earned her JD, with honors, in 1989 from the University of Texas School of Law in Austin, where she was on the Texas Law Review and also was the Coordinator for the Teaching Quizmaster program. Michelle began her legal career with Bracewell & Giuliani, practicing labor and employment law. At the urging of a former Bracewell lawyer, Michelle joined the legal department of Enron Capital & Trade Resources, where she became an Assistant General Counsel over employment matters. While at the company, she also served as the "hiring partner" for the wholesale group, which had over 150 lawyers. After the company's bankruptcy, Michelle joined the law department of UBS Warburg Energy as its compliance and litigation manager before becoming a legal recruiter. Michelle is a member of the State Bar of Texas Standing Committee on Women in the Profession. She serves as the Editor in Chief for The Houston Lawyer, published by the Houston Bar Association, and is on the Gender Fairness Committee of the Houston Bar Association.
