About Sympius

We are SYMPIUS, a small start-up company located in Palo Alto, CA. We would like to bring you back in time to 2013, when another Palo Alto based company, PARC, introduced the XEROX Alto computer, one of the first models with a mouse-driven GUI. This marked the beginning of a new era of human-computer interaction, which has lasted for more than 40 years. It was based on the "select by position on screen" approach, and it has worked well for devices with big screens, such as desktops, laptops and tablets. But the position-based interface is less efficient for devices with smaller screens. These limits have made many experts believe that the future of wearable technology seems uncertain. Here at SYMPIUS, we have developed an amazing technology, which we call SPINT (State-Point Interaction), that fixes the small-screen-size shortcomings of the traditional GUI. Instead of using interface elements that are selected by a cursor, SPINT uses controls that are selected in a user's head, and trigRead more

Instead of using interface elements that are selected by a cursor, SPINT uses controls that are selected in a user's head, and triggered by either tapping, sliding or shaking the device. SPINT doesn't require a touchscreen capability. Even if your screen is smaller than a penny, you will still be able to enter commands and texts on your device. SPINT technology effectively transforms 40-years old WIMP (windows, icons, menus, pointer) paradigm into WIMS counterpart, where P (pointer) is replaced with S (state). SPINT may just look like an interesting gimmick, but it's a quantum leap that fixes the problem of devices with small screens, or no screens at all. The technology also creates amazing new possibilities. SPINT makes wearables make more sense, since it allows users to effectively work with small screens, just as they do with smart phones and tablets. For us, SPINT is just a very first step (out of five), but it is an important move in a completely new direction. Lets walk this path together! SYMPIUS TeamRead More
