Sylvan Corporation now has four separate transillumination products that were designed by Mr. Fedorka to be safe, rugged, dependable, and with unsurpassed quality and customer service. The original unit sold was the Pediascan® Model 200, followed by the Model 500, Model 100, and in the year 2000 the Maxiscan® Model 1000 transilluminator. Sylvan Fiberoptics (a division of Sylvan Corporation) manufactures a line of portable, high intensity cold light fiberoptic transilluminators for medical use. It is a useful and functional tool for identifying IV (intravenous) sites quickly and efficiently which dramatically reduces IV insertion times and errant "sticks" while providing atraumatic care for patients from pre-term neonates to geriatrics. There are currently two model types: Pediascan® and Maxiscan®; the Pediascan® is for use primarily in level II and III Neonatal ICU's and the tip never gets above 94 degrees Fahrenheit. The Maxiscan®, with about 40% more light output, is for use in on any patients in the hospital population and where IV insertion or vascular access procedures are present. The tip never gets above 101 degrees Fahrenheit. There are 4 models to choose from: Pediascan® 100, 200 & 500 and Maxiscan® 1000. All the units have true portability with internal rechargeable batteries, proven rugged and reliable design and small size and weight.
