Sutton Historical Society

The objectives established by the new organization were: The stimulation and development of interest in the history of the Town of Sutton. The identification, collection, ownership, and preservation of property (personal and real) and of fact and information of historical significance to the Town of Sutton and/or its residents. The education of Sut... ton's residents and other interested individuals and organizations about the history of the Town. To cooperate with other historical societies as appropriate to the furtherance of these objectives. The SHS has become the steward and owner of three historic Sutton buildings: the South Sutton Meetinghouse, the South Village School (District No. 9) and the Azariah Cressey House, which serves as the society's headquarters. The Larry and Jean Bennett Library located in the Cressey House is home to a growing collection of archival documents and genealogical material.
