The Susan McKinnon Foundation was established in 2015 by Sophie Oh and Grant Rule to fulfil their desire to make a positive difference to society. Grant is the co-founder of mobile tech company MessageMedia. He founded the company in 2000 with the core mission of generating wealth to fulfil this purpose. Sophie and Grant share the belief that it is... not in their children's best interests to receive a substantial inheritance and so plan on distributing the vast majority of their wealth during their lifetime to philanthropic causes, primarily through the Susan McKinnon Foundation. The Susan McKinnon Foundation is named after Sue McKinnon, Grant's mother, whose story of resilience and positivity in the face of great adversity during her childhood and early adult life, is an inspiration to anyone who knows her. Despite her hardships, Sue is open and curious about life, society and politics. She brought her children up to consider their impact on others and to think in terms of contribution rather than accumulation. Grant and Sophie would like to express their gratitude to Regina Hill, whose support of MessageMedia in its startup years was fundamental to its survival and ultimate success.
