The goals of the Suriname Conservation Foundation The purpose of the Suriname Conservation Foundation (SCF ) is to promote the conservation of biodiversity in the Republic of Suriname. To that end, the SCF will support the operation of nature reserves, conservation-related activities outside protected areas, sustainable income generating activities... , observation activities, training and research, environmental education, and other projects designed to promote conservation. SCF promotes activities consistent with the following objectives: strengthening capacity to manage Nature Reserves; strengthening capacity to conduct scientific and policy research and analysis on the state of Suriname's biodiversity and its Nature Reserves; promoting environmental education and increasing environmental awareness; and identifying and promoting opportunities for eco-tourism and strengthening the capacity to use protected areas as eco-tourism destinations in order to support sustainable use and conservation of biodiversity.
