South Auckland Boat Repairs (SABR) was established in 1986 by Sam Dorotich as a result of his passion and love for boats and the marine industry. Fueled by a desire to work for himself, Sam launched South Auckland Boat Repairs and started working out of his parent's garage in Manurewa. The business soon grew with contract work coming from Markline... Boats so Sam hired a team and moved SABR to a rented premise at the corner of Holmes & Mahia Roads in Manurewa. In 1988, Sam purchased land on Holmes Road where he would later establish his purpose built high studded factory with gantry units for lifting boats. SABR was fully operating from this site by 1991. In 1995, as the business continued to grow and gain recognition for its high quality fibreglass repair work, a second workshop was constructed and set up for production laminating. This allowed Sam and his team to do contract boat building and laminating for a number of other boat building companies as well as fibreglass moulds and repairs for other clients. From there, SABR began to manufacture its own range of boats under the affiliated company Superior Boats. His signature boats today are the Superior FB1050 and the Superior SC1050 and the new Superior 1050. The business diversified with the launch of Superior Shuttles CATS a combination of a Canopy And Trailer manufactured from fibreglass moulds with fully lockable trailers.
