It is proudly affiliated with the National Hospital Network (NHN). The hospital was officially established in 1995. In 2002, Mr. Ken Ford, a veteran in the hospital industry with over three decades of experience, acquired the hospital and prevented its closure. Shortly after, Sunshine Hospital admitted its first patient involved in a motor vehicle... accident. With an annual count of over 520,000 people injured on South African roads, of which approximately 63,000 sustain serious injuries, and a medical uninsured population of 44 million, there has been a significant increase in the demand for private hospitalisation for road accident victims. In response to this, Sunshine Hospital has been transformed into a center of excellence for patients injured in motor vehicle accidents and work-related injuries sustained while on duty. At Sunshine Hospital, we offer an option for medically uninsured patients injured in motor vehicle accidents (MVA or PVA) or workplace injuries (IOD) to receive treatment at no cost in a private hospital setting. The hospital recovers the costs for treating MVA, PVA, and IOD patients directly from the Road Accident Fund and Compensation Fund, respectively.
